The Concept
These stories can be told endlessly. Hundreds more are created daily. And yet, they are rarely heard. "You Hear It, We Live It" brings those stories to life. In this project, radios placed around a room broadcast these experiences unceremoniously, creating a chaotic mess people can choose to overlook. These stories are already powerful, which may be too much for some. However, at the click of a button, the noise stops and a single voice will speak to you of their experience. You may not have wanted to hear it, but they had to live it. Now, we must do with this information as we can.

Mallely Gomez
I am a recent graduate of the University of California San Diego with a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts. I spend much of my time both creating and curating. Much of my time at UCSD was used to build, learn, and create new ways of interacting with many would consider random junks of metal and plastic. Instead, I found ways to reorient perspectives and become a friend to technology. Alongside this creation, I took time to work behind the scenes and curate many exhibitions and galleries, including the showcase "You Hear It, We Live It" was presented in. I now plan to continue my work into a new setting: the rest of the world.
